Here’s our new little family 🙂 Everyone is doing well this morning, nursing hard and sleeping harder. The last puppy was delivered by c-section late last night. The problem child is the second pup from the right, a dark girl with a long white stripe running down her neck. Despite her prolonged time in utero, she is going like gang-busters this morning. 6 boys and two girls in various shades of red, self and irish marked.
And here’s the proud Mom. She’s quite content with her babes. Her pain levels from the c-section are apparently very low, she ate very well this morning and is attending to her motherly duties with no difficulties. I am so glad that I decided to make the call to the vet. I suspected there was another pup in there, and I was right. We saw it on xray, verified it was alive with a doppler monitor, and made the decision to take the puppy before it died. It’s wonderful to have a great vet, one who listens when you say “something is NOT right here”. In the end, it all worked out beautifully.
